This past summer, droves of Swifties hit the Eras tour (or their at-home watch parties) in glittery cowgirl boots. And for the more mature set, coastal cowgirl combined the muted hues and un-fussy silhouettes of “coastal grandmother” with a Western aesthetic. What’s next? Black Star boots is calling it with its latest campaign: Coquette Cowgirl.
“What we love about the coquette cowgirl aesthetic for Western fashion is how it showcases the soft side of cowgirl femininity,” offers Twisted X Global Brands Creative Director Taylor Torcellini. “There’s no doubt that the cowgirl lifestyle is rooted in toughness, self-reliance, and grit. This Black Star campaign celebrates that women are multi-faceted and can be both rugged and resilient, as well as graceful.”
The campaign features boots in an array of hues and treatments — from distressed teal to star-embroidered white leather — styled with ruffly dresses, lace parasols, and all-over floral femininity. The shoot was set at a Downtown Abbey–inspired estate, ready to make its debut in the society papers.
Torcellini sees the aesthetic as another avenue for the boot brand to widen its appeal. “As Western fashion continues to shine in mainstream culture, our Black Star collection offers classic cowgirl silhouettes and timeless styles that can appeal to broader fashion wardrobes because of its versatility,” she says. “We leaned heavily into florals, lace, soft colors, and delicate pieces when assembling our campaign and aimed to create looks inspired by what everyone could find in their existing closets. Our hope is that every woman can see herself in Black Star whether you consider yourself a traditional cowgirl or not.”
