In a big moment for baseball fans yesterday, New Balance revealed its logo for two-time American League MVP, Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani will lead his Los Angeles Dodgers at the MLB World Tour: Seoul Series presented by Coupang Play in South Korea this week.
The record-breaking player is known for his unique ability as a hitter and a pitcher. And, Ohtani is the only player in MLB history to receive multiple American League MVP titles through a unanimous vote. The New Balance logo highlights this, along with the player’s athleticism and love of base running.
“To finally reveal this special logo that I’ve worked closely on is truly an exciting moment for me. It is a visual representation of my journey in baseball and I am excited to share it with the world. I also look forward to using this logo with future projects that we will reveal throughout the 2024 season.” —Shohei Ohtani
To celebrate the reveal, New Balance will host an exclusive pop-up at its Brentwood, Los Angeles, location March 27. Fans will be able to purchase a limited-edition t-shirt emblazoned with the new logo. In addition, 50 New Balance gloves will be up for grabs, all replicas of the style created specifically for the slugger.
New Balance recognizes how Ohtani has drawn new fans to baseball and is working with him on a global level. “Since joining forces with New Balance, Shohei Ohtani has been nothing short of incredible to work with both on and off the diamond. We have collaborated with Shohei on charitable endeavors in Japan, global brand storytelling, product, and a lot more still to come,” says Chris Davis, New Balance Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of Merchandising. “Shohei is truly a reflection of our values, and this is just the beginning. We will continue to innovate, inspire, and give back in a way that can only be expressed through Shohei.”
