StockX Shoots for a Good Cause at NBA All-Star Weekend

In celebration of NBA All-Star 2020 in Chicago, StockX today kicked off a week-long raffle campaign to benefit longstanding Chicago nonprofit, the Common Ground Foundation. In partnership with famed designer and StockX investor Don C, the brand tapped a host of designers, artists and visionaries to create limited-edition Chicago-themed items that will be available to win exclusively through a charitable donation via the StockX platform.
StockX collaborated with Don C to pair six creators—designer Melody Ehsani and musician and activist Vic Mensa; Angelo Baque, founder of streetwear brand Awake and Easy Otabor, gallerist and founder of Infinite Archives; Chris Gibbs, the brains behind Los Angeles retailer Union and contemporary artist, Hebru Brantley—to design the items, each of which draws inspiration from and pays tribute to Chicago. The online marketplace also tapped premium luggage brand, RIMOWA, as a creative partner on the initiative. From now until Feb. 16 at 11:59 p.m. EST, those interested in contributing can visit www.stockx.com/charity/ASW2020 to donate $10 for a chance to win.
“Working with partners like StockX underscores the daily efforts of the Common Ground Foundation and is an extension of the pillars of our organization,“ states Leslie Papps, executive director of the Common Ground Foundation.  “StockX is leading the dialogue and setting the bar for fashion, technology and creativity that our students can aspire to.”
StockX will also host ‘To the Game, Love Chicago,’ a three-day exhibition that showcases the city’s global impact on culture and sport. From Feb. 14-16, Chicago’s RSVP Gallery will become home to a curated exhibition featuring the works of the three designer duos along with items from their personal collections. The space will offer programming over the course of the weekend such as panels and workshops featuring notable figures from the Chicago community. Dash Radio will also broadcast live from the space and will feature the entirety of the programming on its Dash Hip Hop X station. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win “surprise and delight” giveaways of coveted All-Star sneakers, sought-after product collaborations and more.
“StockX was built on a foundation that celebrates cultural significance and history within the world of sneakers and streetwear,” says Deena Bahri, CMO of StockX. “As a company that tremendously values our community, both online and offline, All-Star Weekend was the perfect opportunity to recognize the impact that the city of Chicago has had in this space and on the sport of basketball. We’re so excited to have been able to create a forum for conversation and creation, that showcases the work of these amazing artists, and most importantly gives back to an incredible organization in the Common Ground Foundation.”
