Richmond, VA’s Saxon Shoes in Short Pump Town Center is remodeling the entire store. The changes include a new children’s area (to be located upstairs and serve as its own store within the store) and new inventory (including brands never before carried in Richmond). It’s all in an effort to offer consumers a new and better shopping experience amid a landscape where they have more choices than ever.
“Our remodel is designed to offer consumers shoe shopping the way it should be. We are creating a warm and easy-to-navigate space,” says Gary Weiner, president of Saxon Shoes. “We evaluated how customers are shopping today to develop a design that looks, feels and works better.”
Saxon is working with locally based companies, including KSA Interiors and Perretz & Young Architects on the design. The remodel is set to be completed by mid to late February.
Saxon Shoes has been in business since 1953, when Jack and Gloria Weiner opened their tiny shoe shop with nothing more than a few dollars and a dream. Today, Saxon is owned by that same family and has grown to become one of the largest independent shoe stores in America.
