Top 5 Trends Spotted at FN Platform

Find out which styles stood out this week in Las Vegas.

This week at the Las Vegas Convention Center over 1600 brands showcased their Fall/Winter 2015 lines.  Footwear Plus walked the floor and took note of the season’s hottest new looks. Be it fashion or comfort, these trends transcend category boundaries. The top 5 things to look for in FW ’15 are:

Menswear
Man Tailored: Women continue to borrow from the boy’s for fall ’15. Brogues, derbys, oxfords and loafers abound reimagined in patent and metallic leathers and elevated (literally) on lug and crepe souls.

90s
New Grunge: Inspired by iconic garage-rock bands like Nirvana and Garbage ‘90s influence is felt in the form of lug soles and clunky lace ups. Either done in full grunge fashion, bedecked with exposed zippers and buckles or tempered with tailored shapes and pale colorways, boots looked dated—in a good way.

Outdoor
Take a Hike: Short lace up boots break trail for Fall ’15. Styles range from rugged with distressed leathers and wood stacked heels to sporty with techy materials in bright colors. No mountain required.

Athletic

Sport Star: Ath-leisure prevails begetting a panoply of sneakers, slip-ons and joggers. From luxe slip-ons reimagined in an array of exotic materials to futuristic sneakers equipped with the latest in performance technology—there is no ignoring the casualization of the market.
Cozy
Cozy Comfort: Two years of treacherous winter seasons has the consumer reaching for warm and cozy. From fur and shearling to sweater knits and boiled wool designers are offering up styles with serious textural appeal mean to entice wearers with their warm embrace. Look for fur lined boots with knitted collars and deconstructed shearling slippers come winter.
