Mia Cares, the philanthropic arm of Miami-based Mia Shoes, raised a whopping $25,000 for the fight against breast cancer with two major initiatives during the month of October. Donating 10 percent of the proceeds from the sale of all Amanda shoes throughout the month, the company raised $5,000 for a breast cancer clinical trial studying new therapies in Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), one of the disease’s deadliest types, at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Additionally, as QVC’s Shoe Sponsor of the Day on Oct. 16, the company raised $20,000 for the Fashion Footwear Charitable Foundation (FFCF) through its donation of 400 pairs of custom black and pink Amanda flats featuring the iconic pink ribbon.
“We are so grateful for the support of our loyal customers in these important promotions focused on putting an end to breast cancer,” says Mia Founder and CEO Richard Strauss. “The life-saving research underway at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and other research centers around the country are the keys to putting an end to this terrible disease.”
