For the soldiers wounded serving our country, transitioning into daily life with new physical challenges and limitations isn’t easy. That’s why Keen is supporting our nation’s heroes from now through December by donating $5 from the sale of every pair of Keen Utility boots sold at participating retailers to Homes for Our Troops, a non-profit dedicated to building specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans mortgage-free. The brand will then in turn match that for a combined donation of $10 per pair of boots sold. This contribution will be able to provide the much-needed funds to allow the organization to continue its inspiring and life-changing work.
“Homes for Our Troops appreciates the fundraising efforts of Keen Utility. Because of the support from patriotic companies across the nation, we are able to restore freedom and independence back to our severely injured veterans through the gift of a specially adapted home,” says Major General Timothy P. McHale, U.S. Army (Ret), president and director of Homes for Our Troops.
Since 2012, Keen Utility and participating retailers have raised more than $46,000 in funds disbursed directly to the Homes for Our Troops organization, which has built dozens of homes each year for the most severely injured service members who have been wounded in combat operations since September 11, 2001. This includes all branches of the military that qualify. New homes that are accessible and customized for the homeowner’s needs post-injury are built through donations of time and materials from dedicated volunteer, craftsmen and corporate sponsors. “Through the generosity of our retailers it is our hope that we can help Homes for Our Troops continue to welcome home our nation’s heroes,” says Chris Enlow, Keen’s care and community manager.
