Opened in October of 2002, Sole Shoes & Accessories is Atlanta’s go-to destination for an on-trend collection of footwear, accessories and, as of four years ago, apparel carefully curated by owner Abigail Lignugaris. “I keep my price points relatively low to make them affordable for my customers,” she says. “You could walk out dressed in a full outfit for around $350.”
FP: How has business been so far this year? AL: Business has been great this year! We now have a fully operational e-commerce site that has added to our growth.
FP: Do you host any in-store events or promotions? AL: Yes. We try to do one every other month, from jewelry trunk shows with local designers to offering a shopping spree to a customer who can invite 1o to 15 of her friends for an after-hours party.
FP: What are some of your bestselling styles? AL: For the fall it’s booties in the shoe department and palazzo pants in apparel.
FP: How about brands? AL: Jeffrey Campbell and Seychelles shoes and Veronica M in apparel.
FP: Who is your customer? AL: Our typical customer ranges in age from 25 to 45–very hip working women and stay-at-home moms who want to stay on trend.
FP: What’s the biggest challenge that comes with owning your business? AL: Finding the right people to help run different aspects of your business. FP: What’s the best part of your job? AL: Meeting people, from all of my customers who walk in the door to developing great relationships with my vendors. And of course the buying!
