Ocean Minded has partnered with the Sandalman, a family-owned footwear company in Newport Beach, CA, to refresh two of its bestselling sandals. “There’s been a resurgence of made-in-the-U.S.A. product and this collaborative relationship combines the best of both companies,” says Steve Workman, general manager. The limited-edition premium collection debuts with the women’s Makena (SRP $130) and the men’s Mokulua (SRP $150), both featuring full-grain leather straps, toe posts and footbeds, along with a die-cut sponge SBR foam midsole. The Sandalman constructed each sandal by hand in its Newport Beach facility and, with the exception of the outsole and woven label, every pair is made from U.S. components. “The sandals that we make are Californian by nature,” says Scott Strader, who co-founded the Sandalman in 1976. “We simply create, by hand, the product that we sell and give it special, personal involvement. Making these two sandals for Ocean Minded has been satisfying for us and we’re thankful for the opportunity to expose our product to a larger market.”
