Ruthie Davis named Footwear Designer of the Year by the AAFA at the 36th Annual American Image Awards.

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) named Ruthie Davis Footwear Designer of the Year at its 36th Annual American Image Awards last night at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. "It is a huge honor to be listed amongst past recipients of these awards such as John Bartlett, Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta.

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) named Ruthie Davis Footwear Designer of the Year at its 36th Annual American Image Awards last night at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. “It is a huge honor to be listed amongst past recipients of these awards such as John Bartlett, Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta. Being an American woman and designing for the American woman is something that is extremely important to me, which is why this award is so near to my heart,” says Davis, who was accompanied by R&B recording artist Ashanti. 

Other winners included: Man of the Year and managing partner of Tengram Capital Partners William Sweedler; Humanitarian of the Year and CEO of Starwood Capital Group Barry Sternlicht; Denim Brand of the Year DL 1961; Menswear Brand of the Year Robert Graham; and Premium Fiber Brand of the Year Supima Cotton. The evening was in aid of the Special Olympics and hosted by Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin. Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan was also in attendance.
