The final episode of the latest (and last) season of Gossip Girl aired last night on The CW network. One particular quote from an early episode has stuck with me over the past five years: Blair Waldorf, while interviewing girls to join her minions, disgustedly looked one up and down and asked, “Are those Tory Burch’s last season flats?” who nervously revealed that she got them on sale.
Well, the joke’s on you, Blair, because the Reva, a leather ballet flat available in every conceivable colorway with a double-T medallion logo on top (retail $195) that debuted in 2006, remains the brand’s best seller. Oprah Winfrey included the flats in her final Favorite Things episode in 2010, and with 85 stores worldwide and 35 more slated to open next year, Tory Burch will have sales of about $800 million in 2012.
