Best in Show Anna Sui’s eclectic rock n’ roll vibe and Hush Puppies’ heritage in casual footwear may seem like an unlikely match, but like the theorist say: opposites attract. —Angela Velasquez
Love (Luv)
noun, verb
1. A profoundly tender, passionate affection for another
Starting in August, six Anna Sui for Hush Puppies styles will be available in select retailers nationwide. Dani Zizak, vice president of global marketing at Hush Puppies, a division of Wolverine World Wide, believes the capsule collection offers a fantastic opportunity to both engage a new customer and to pique the interest of past and current Hush Puppies fans. “The collection achieves a perfect balance of Anna Sui’s hip style and the authentic, casual style for which Hush Puppies is known,” she explains.
The collection revisits some of Hush Puppies’ key silhouettes including a faux fur-lined chukka, a tall suede boot with shearling lining, a suede lace-up and a wingtip as well as the introduction of two new styles created by Sui—a suede ghillie and tap shoe with grosgrain ribbon. Styles are offered in brown and black as well as in vivid shades of electric blue, teal, prune and Sui’s signature purple. Retail prices range from $105 to $245.
Guests at Sui’s show during New York Fashion Week in February got a sneak peak at the line. Zizak says the successful “marriage” of styling was evident, noting Sui designed the footwear to coordinate with her late sixties-inspired runway collection. “You’ll see the same rich color palette in the footwear and in her apparel,” Zizak says.
