Dear Industry Colleagues,
As we approach the holiday season, on behalf of the entire footwear team at ENK International, owners and operators of the WSA show, I want to wish you a very peaceful and prosperous New Year.
In the last few months of 2010, we assembled a dedicated management team and have since shared with you our plans to establish the WSA show as, once again, the leading footwear trade event in the industry. Many of you have chosen to join us this Feb. 7.8.9. 2011 at The Venetian and Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas as we take the first step on this journey.
To those of you who have, we thank you for your support and your vision. We are dedicated to surpassing your expectations. To those who have not yet decided to join us, we appreciate the dialog and remain dedicated to earning your confidence.
We are here to serve the entire footwear industry, and we continue to prove ourselves daily to be sincere, dedicated and passionate about meeting the needs of our peers—both exhibitors and
retailers. We look forward to 2011 with great expectations for our WSA and Sole Commerce shows, for your business and for the success of the entire footwear community.
Despite the recent cold snap, crowds have faithfully gathered outside some of New York’s best window displays and relished in the holiday spirit. And the good news for retailers? Eventually, many window shoppers came in to warm up—and spend. —Angela Velasquez and Audrey Goodson
Nine West on 5th Avenue kicks off the holiday season with the Radio City Rockettes. This poster is part of the brand’s national “Rock the Holidays” campaign and shows off the Jemster, an open toe silver party shoe.
Saks Fifth Avenue’s window follows a little girl on a fantastical journey inside her parents’ cabinet of curiosities. There, she imagines a world full of glamorous accessories, feather plumed dresses and sky-high designer shoes by Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin.
Travel—near and far—serves as the inspiration for Bergdorf Goodman’s holiday masterpiece. The emporium’s unique take on travel-appropriate footwear includes gem-encrusted platform pumps by Christian Louboutin. Works for us.
Skechers’ winter wonderland on 34th Street may not rank as a ‘miracle,’ but it does include a bounty of shearling boots for the entire family.
What would a paper mache Wolfgang Puck wear to the dinner table? Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars, according to the crafty geniuses at Barneys. The classic kicks grace the department store’s untraditional feast-themed holiday windows.
Adidas hi-tops take top billing at the Foot Locker flagship on 34th Street. The chain’s windows reflect what many have on their wish list: money and shoes.
Last but not least, Macy’s offers something for everyone. Along with showcasing suede booties by INC International Concepts, the famous Herald Square location captures imaginations with an animated story of Virginia, an inquisitive 8-year-old girl who doubts Santa’s existence. As for us, we surely still believe.
