Skechers is one of the few shoe brands that always commits to its Super Bowl ads, ever since debuting its campaign with Joe Montana in 2010. This year, Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid is headlining the game and the brand’s commercial.
Other notable past Skechers Super Bowl commercials include Snoop Dogg in a spot that also featured Martha Stewart, Howie Long, and Tony Romo; Mark Cuban with a French bulldog named Mr. Quiggly; Willie Nelson singing ‘On the Road Again’; and last year’s ad featuring Mr. T and Tony Romo adding the ‘t’ in Skechers.
In this year’s ad (the brand’s 12th for the occasion), Reid frees up his hands using Skechers Slip-Ins sneakers, opening up the possibilities to what he can do in his off-season “side hustle.”
“I’m a no-nonsense football guy who needs everything around me to be easy so I can just focus on the game — especially when it’s for the championship,” offers Reid. “These Skechers Hands Free Slip-ins have made my routine quicker and easier. No one wants to go into overtime just because of their shoes, and best of all they give me time to focus on my second career that you’ll see in my first commercial for Skechers.”
The ad is great timing for the brand, considering Reid will lead his squad into what could be another championship year. But regardless of the outcome, the three-time Super Bowl champion, AP NFL Coach of the Year, and three-time Sporting News Coach of the Year brings a winning pedigree to the Skechers team.
