Skechers partners with Baby2Baby to donate 54,000 pairs of shoes.

Skechers announced yesterday that it would donate more than 54,000 pairs of shoes through its Bobs program to support Baby2Baby, a charity that provides families in need with essential baby gear and clothing. Working with donating partner Fashion Delivers, the first shipment of 1,600 new pairs of Bobs arrived for Baby2Baby’s third annual holiday party at the charity’s L.A. headquarters. During the event, families and children in need decorated their new shoes with celebrity guests Gwen Stefani, Jessica Alba, Michelle Monaghan, Nicole Richie, Molly Simms, Busy Phillipps and Julie Bowen.

Skechers Performance division signs on as sponsor of Houston marathon.

Skechers announced yesterday that it has inked a multi-year partnership with the Houston Marathon Committee under which Skechers Performance division will become the official footwear and apparel sponsor for the Chevron Houston Marathon and enjoy a high-visibility presence at all race events including the annual Houston Marathon Expo. The company will also exclusively design, distribute and sell products featuring the Chevron Houston Marathon logo, outfit volunteers with branded merchandise and gift runners with finishers’ shirts.

Skechers has re-teamed with Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana to shoot a TV spot for Relaxed Fit, the company’s recently launched comfort footwear collection. The ad, part of a series of spots that also feature Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda, is part of a global multi-platform agreement which includes print, in-store, online and social media in support of Relaxed Fit.

Skechers flies the flag for Team USA

Skechers is going for gold – literally – at the Olympic Games in London with its GOrun minimalist running shoe. Featuring mid-foot strike technology and a 4mm heel drop which brings the runner 66 precent closer to the ground than traditional athletic footwear, limited edition colorways of red, white and navy will hit stores in July and retail for $80. Team USA member Meb Keflezighi, who set a personal best at the marathon trials in Houston while wearing the ultra-lightweight sneaker, will compete in a custom pair at the Games this summer.

Off Broadway Shoes, Two Ten Raise $100K for Scholarship Program

Fundraising records were broken and surely a golf ball or two went missing at the culmination of the 4th annual Off Broadway Atlanta Golf Tournament in support of the Two Ten Footwear Foundation. More than 150 shoepeople were on hand, raising more than $100,000 for Two Ten’s Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to students at colleges and universities across the country.
