Demi Lovato inks deal with Skechers.

Following in the footsteps of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato has signed with Skechers and will appear in the company’s global marketing and social media campaigns through 2016. Lovato, known for hit singles “Heart Attack” and “Neon Lights” as well as two seasons as an X-Factor judge, will make her first official appearance in a new Skechers TV commercial and accompanying print ad later this year.

Dubbed the Apollo and inspired by classic moccasins, the new design is the perfect pairing of old and new. Spearheaded by Creative Director Mark Gainor, the five-year-old company worked with a second-generation shoemaker in Los Angeles to create the hand-turned wooden last the new shoe is based on, and the China-made end product features a single piece upper made from an ultra lightweight, breathable microfiber on the brand’s signature blown EVA outsole.

Pro skateboarder Pat Duffy signs with Airspeed Footwear.

AirSpeed has announced the signing of pro skateboard legend Pat Duffy to its Footwear Pro team. The In California Inc-owned brand hopes that Duffy, listed as the No. 13 Most Influential Skater of All Time by TransWorld Skateboarding magazine, will take AirSpeed beyond its current consumer base of 25 million. Distributed online and in Walmart stores nationwide, AirSpeed has previously partnered with the likes of Mike McGill, Kristian Svitak and Brian Sumner. Pat Duffy pro model shoes will debut at select brick-and-mortars and online in Fall ’15.

Timberland hits goals for greenhouse gas emissions.

As part of its overall commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), in 2007 Timberland set a number of aggressive performance targets with the goal of achieving them by 2015. Today, the VF Corp.-owned brand has announced that as of year-end 2013, due to persistent efforts to reduce its environmental impact, the brand has already hit two critical goals. Specifically, Timberland has reduced its GHG emissions by 50 percent, almost two years ahead of schedule, and 26 percent of its energy is now derived from renewable sources.

He’s delivered speeches at everything from the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies to the Temple Law Foundation, and later this month he will head to Melbourne to speak at the 2014 AIDS Conference. But luckily for Skechers, the in-demand speaker was able to carve time out of his busy schedule to deliver the keynote address at the Manhattan Beach, CA-based brand’s annual Global Conference on June 26.

Rocky Brands launches Instagram contests for Rocky and Georgia Boot.

Rocky Brands is encouraging consumers to share where their Georgia Boot and Rocky boots take them as part of a just-launched social media contest. Licensing Expo attendance up.

Advanstar Licensing, organizers of Licensing Expo, reports that 15,702 licensing professionals attended the most recent three-day show at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, representing a 5 percent increase from last year’s event. The show featured 482 exhibiting companies in 218,872 net square feet with an additional 100,000 square feet of conference and special event space used daily. More press attended than ever before, too, with 120 journalists working the show and covering news from exhibitors.
