Image and video hosting by TinyPicWith years of customer service experience, a love of people and an MBA in Business & Marketing under his belt, Enrico Perella opened San Francisco’s Bulo Shoes in 1994. The shop has since become one of the area’s top destinations for edgy, comfortable, eco-friendly and handmade footwear.

FP: How has business been so far this year? EP: It’s been okay. We had a good September last year, but it hasn’t been as good this year. The weather has been warmer than usual, so that has been a factor.

FP: Do you host any in-store events? EP: Usually in November and December we do some trunk shows with Dav rain boots.

FP: What are your bestselling styles? EP: Ankle boots are still going. Of course, we sell lots of good heels. We specialize more in comfort. We’re also selling more three-quarter bots, rather than tall boots.

What are your bestselling brands? EP: We were one of the first to carry Cydwoq and Alberto Fermani. Gidigio and H by Hudson are also popular.

Who is your typical customer? EP: It varies so much. Generally, it’s someone 25 to 50 who wants a shoe that they can wear to work and then wear out that same night.

What’s the best part of your job? EP: I love to talk to people and help them find shoes. That’s really what gets me going.
