Year after year spring runways are chock full of evergreen shoe trends. (Gladiator sandals and pointed-toe pumps, we are looking at you.) But for Spring 2015 a handful of bold designers took their “artistic” liberties with reinterpretations of classics and the results are, well, indefinable if not unbelievable. A slew of bold, brilliant shoes—if you can even call them shoes—made their way down the runways daring viewers to ignore their presence despite their place beneath designer duds. Defying categorization and at times gravity these structural creations give us hope for the future of footwear design—proving that what’s old can be made new.
